Driving Innovation in Pavement Maintenance

Since its founding, HOG Technologies has pursued a single, unwavering goal: to create innovative solutions for pavement maintenance. What began with the Stripe HOG water-blasting system has grown into a globally recognized leader in pavement-maintenance equipment. Today, HOG Technologies’ machines are trusted in more than 60 countries and used by more independent contractors and airport authorities than any other manufacturer in its field.

While water-blasting equipment remains at the heart of the company’s lineup, HOG Technologies has expanded far beyond its original offerings. It now delivers advanced solutions for rumbling, grinding and grooving, addressing a wide spectrum of pavement-maintenance needs.

Since its start in 1988, one principle has guided the company’s growth: to develop products that promote safety, reliability, and productivity. That philosophy continues to shape every machine that leaves HOG Technologies’ facility.

Safety Through Superior Technology
Water-Blasting Expertise
The Stripe HOG uses ultra–high-pressure water jets and clean, potable water to remove road markings quickly and effectively. This process allows fresh markings to be applied in as little as 20 minutes. The same system can also retexture pavement surfaces, restoring traction lost through dirt, rubber and sediment buildup. By improving surface friction, these treatments help enhance driver safety in all conditions.

Life-Saving Rumble Strips
Safety is also central to the Grinder HOG and Rumble HOG. These machines specialize in creating rumble strips, an essential roadway feature proven to reduce accidents by alerting distracted or fatigued drivers who drift from their lanes. With HOG’s innovative Computer-Controlled Profiling (CCP) system, a single operator can adjust the depth and profile of each cut directly from the cab. This allows contractors to meet varying state specifications quickly without leaving the safety of the cab.

Grooving for Visibility and Durability
Both the Grinder HOG and Rumble HOG can also perform pavement grooving, cutting recesses that protect inlaid markings or recessed pavement markers (RPMs). This is particularly valuable in northern states where snowplows routinely scrape road surfaces. Grooves safeguard markings and markers from plow damage, ensuring that drivers can clearly see lanes and boundaries even in harsh winter conditions.

Reliability Built In
HOG Technologies’ reputation for reliability is rooted in experience and craftsmanship. The company’s engineering team brings more than 100 years of combined expertise to the design and testing of every machine. Each HOG unit is handcrafted to the customer’s specifications, with most parts fabricated in-house for quality control.

Every shipment includes a HOG Tools kit and a Spare Parts kit, so operators have critical items on hand before they’re needed. The company’s streamlined logistics system ensures 98% of parts orders are shipped the same day they’re received. With warehouses in both the United States and Europe, HOG can quickly supply parts to customers anywhere in the world.

Supporting Long-Term Performance
Reliability extends beyond the initial build. Proper operation and maintenance are key to keeping HOG equipment at peak performance, which is why the company created HOG Tech University (HTU). This comprehensive training platform, offered online and in person, licenses and certifies operators to run HOG equipment safely and effectively.

HTU also provides detailed maintenance videos created by the engineers who designed the machines. These resources help crews troubleshoot common issues and perform routine care. If a problem can’t be solved through HTU, HOG’s technical support team is available 24/7/365, ensuring customers receive expert help whenever they need it.

Maximizing Productivity
HOG Technologies doesn’t just build powerful machines. It also innovates options and accessories that enhance efficiency. By giving operators the ability to do more in less time, these innovations directly improve productivity and profitability.

The HOG Tusk: Three Functions in One
A standout example of HOG’s innovation is the HOG Tusk attachment for the Stripe HOG. This single head combines the power of PCD grinding teeth with the precision of ultra-high-pressure water jet nozzles. Operators can run the PCD teeth alone for grinding and grooving, use the water jets alone for standard water blasting or deploy both simultaneously.

Using both technologies together allows thick pavement markings to be removed at nearly twice the speed of traditional water-blasting, while using half the water. The PCD teeth strip away the marking’s top layers down to the surface, and the water jets then remove the remainder from the pavement’s micro- and macrotexture. The result: a completely removed marking with no damage to the underlying surface.

Double and Triple Spray Bars for Wider Coverage
HOG Technologies also offers double and triple spray bars for the Stripe HOG. These heads place two or three spray bars under a single shroud, creating a wider blasting path with zero overlap. They’re ideal for removing double-line markings, retexturing pavement or tackling heavy-duty runway rubber removal at airports. The same technology can even be used to remove tire marks and other contaminants from roads and highways, helping restore friction and improve safety.

Advanced Features for the Grinder HOG
The Grinder HOG includes several features designed to boost productivity and reliability. Its patented vacuum system allows for best-in-class recovery while its sonic vibration technology keeps filters clean for maximum productivity, creating a near-dustless environment that meets OSHA standards. This system also prolongs filter life, and newly designed urethane wear items reduce overall maintenance costs.

Additionally, the Grinder HOG uses smart cylinders for precision depth control. These are managed through a programmable logic controller (PLC) within the cab, which also features a Master/Follower function. This allows the operator to run each head independently or all heads simultaneously while maintaining exact lane widths and accurate depth control as well as staying on layout; a significant time saver on large projects.

Built by Contractors, for Contractors
With more than 35 years of experience, HOG Technologies understands the challenges contractors face because the company was founded by one. That perspective drives its ongoing innovation and commitment to customer success.

By combining safety, reliability and productivity in every piece of equipment, HOG Technologies is reshaping how pavement maintenance is performed around the world.
